The 2003s seem to have lost a great deal of fruit, texture, and depth, and they are much more evolved than I thought last year. Although outstanding, the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Noble Revelation is eclipsed by the spectacular 2000. A deep ruby/purple-tinged wine with notes of barrique that are better integrated than in 2004, it offers impressively ripe fruit, hints of melted licorice, smoky Provencal herbs, black raspberries and blackberries, and a full-bodied, lush texture. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. An Alain Corcia Selection, various American importers, including Charmer Industries, NY; tel. (718) 726-2500, Southern Wine and Spirits, CA; tel.
