The 2006 Barranc dels Closos, a blend of 50% Macabeu, 30% Garnacha Blanca, 15% Pedro Ximenez, and 5% Muscat aged for 3 months in French oak. Medium straw-colored, it has a lovely perfume of spring flowers, slate, honey, and white peach. Crisp, layered, and complex, with the oak totally integrated, this nicely balanced effort is smooth-textured, dry, and intensely flavored. It should be consumed over the next 2-3 years, ideally with some of Spain’s fabulous seafood.
Only a tiny percentage of the wine produced in Priorat is white but they can be some of the most interesting white wines made in Spain.
