Last Tasted 12/91
Of all the 1964s I tasted in December, 1991 this was the most classic expression of Pinot Noir. Less exotic and perfumed than La Tache, but more structured, the wine's pure black fruit, herb, and floral aromas dominated this sensationally rich, voluptuous offering. The finish still exhibits noticeable tannin and alcohol. This bottle was in extraordinary condition, giving support to the expression that there are no great wines, just great bottles.
