The 2007 Home Vineyard Pinot Noir has a limpid purple/ruby color. The nose is very pure and well defined with Doris plum, boysenberry and a touch of damson. Nice lift - really envelops the olfactory senses. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, like the Leah, embracing some of Martinborough's broodier moments, lending it more complexity than its peers. Caressing towards the finish, very harmonious, although perhaps it could do with a little more persistency. Still, a top-level Marlborough Pinot.
Michael Seresin's estate in Marlborough continues to go from strength to strength, exploring new techniques to apply biodynamic principles that are zealously pursued. This year, they have some intriguing micro-production Pinot Noirs that reach new heights of quality, if alas not quantity.
