Casa de Illana’s latest offerings include one white wine, the 2008 Blanco. Made up of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Petit Grain Muscat, it was fermented and aged sur lie with batonnage. Light gold in color, it displays a compelling nose of spring flowers, citrus, white peach, and tropical notes reminiscent of the better Torrontes wines from Cafayate. Dry, ripe, and vibrant on the palate, this is a nicely rendered effort meant to go with roast chicken, grilled fish, and spicy Asian dishes. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
