The estate’s 2010 Madre, equal parts Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, emerges from the glass with scents of pipe tobacco, cedar, grilled herbs and black cherries. The Sangiovese comes through most in the aromas and flavors, while the Cabernet seems to add body and structure. Cabernet notes of cassis and bell pepper linger on the finish.
