The 1980 Pommard 1er Cru Les Pézerolles is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with complex aromas of plums, coniferous forest floor, mandarin rind and smoke. Medium to full-bodied, ample and melting, with a fleshy core of sweet fruit, fine tannins and a sapid finish, it's a charming, generously but judiciously chaptalized red Burgundy that's drinking very well age 40.
