One of Sandrone's least heralded yet consistently gorgeous efforts is his Barbera d'Alba. The wine was aged in old foudres, and is a beautiful supple, soft, fruit-driven offering with elegance, loads of strawberry and cherry fruit, earth, and spice. The 1999 is fat and deep colored. It is best drunk during its first 4-5 years of life.
