The 2013 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé is a blend of 30+-year-old vines on limestone and red sandstone soils. Clear, pure and very delicate on the nose that is clearly terroir-driven in its dusty flavors, the wine also shows a noble and harmonious intensity of (over-) ripe and concentrated fruit aromas which reminds me of Gewurztraminer. Rich, lush, and sweet (13% alcohol + 30.1 grams per liter of residual sugar) this fruit-intense and very well-balanced, medium-dry Pinot reveals a good length with a lingering salinity and freshness. I would store this age-worthy wine for at least 10 years.
