This is a full-bodied, rich, Bordeaux right bank-tasting wine, with lusciously opulent fruit, a huge nose of roasted, chocolatey, cassis fruit, herbs, and coffee. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, but not quite as opulent and flamboyant as the 1977 Bodega Weinert Malbec. The wine is beautifully balanced with medium to full-bodied flavors and moderate tannins in the finish. It should continue to drink well for at least another decade.I unequivocally believe that this estate from Argentina is making the most profound red wine in South America. I know this will be a hard wine to find, as well as frightfully expensive, but the Calvert/Woodley Shop in Washington, DC (202-966-4400) stocks the entire line-up of Weinert wines.Importer: Vinos USA, Deerfield Beach, FL (tel. 305-698-9012).
