Another indigenous white grape from Spain, often used in sparkling wine is Xarel-lo. This wine contains 85% in the blend, with the balance 15% Riesling, all aged in tank and large wood foudre. From the chalky soils of this area the wine offers lots of Chablis-like minerality. Elegant and fresh white currants and lemon-zest notes, light to medium-bodied, excellent acidity, but a striking liquid minerality and freshness. This is intriguing, complex wine, especially at this price point. Drink it over the next year.
