The 2001 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, quite dark in color. shows an intense and penetrating nose of plum and raspberry fruit, herbs, spices and caramel, and the round and powerful flavors are deep, soft, and ripe with much tar and chocolate on the close. Drink: 2005-2014. The new vintages of Valdipiatta’s non-traditional wines are not yet ready for tasting, but the two Vino Nobile bottlings from the 2001 vintage are decisive proof that the house founded by Giulio Caporali, whose daughter Miriam is now sharing responsibilities in the direction of the firm, is making some of the best wines of the appellation.
