I found both a yeasty and faintly fusil overlay to the nose of Crusius’s 2006 Traiser Rotenfels Riesling Kabinett but ripe peach and red currant then emerge and persist refreshingly on the palate. At less than 10% alcohol, this displays real delicacy and an infectious finish of honey-glazed gooseberry, red currant, and spiced white peach. Enjoy it over the next 4-6 years. In contrast to what one would normally expect, this year Riesling succumbed to botrytis more quickly than some of his other varieties, notes Peter Crusius. No U.S. importer.
