The 2006 Edizione Cinque Autoctoni is a super-ripe, opulent red bursting with soft-textured dark fruit. The wine possesses compelling inner perfume along with tons of complexity in an extroverted, full-bodied style. The finish is long, sweet and refined, especially for a wine of this size. As the name implies the Edizione Cinque Autoctoni is a blend of five native varieties; 33% Montepulciano, 25% Sangiovese, 30% Primitivo, 7% Negroamaro and 5% Malvasia Nera. The fruit is sourced from both Puglia and Abruzzo, and therefore the wine can’t carry a formal regional designation or vintage, but readers will find the year indicated on the lot number on the back label. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016.
