Today, in 2023, the 1982 Art Series Chardonnay is 41 years old. In the glass, it is an orange/golden color and smells of marmalade toast, toffee apples, faint coffee grounds, salted peach, poached pear and brine. The wine is kept alive by briny acidity that remains pert even in this old wine. It is toasty, rich, flavorsome and very long. It unfurls on the palate and through the finish, allowing more time to assess and reflect. It seems to have another decade to go, possibly more?
