This is the debut vintage from proprietor Thierry de la Brosse, the principal owner of the most famous and expensive bistro in all of Paris, L-Ami Louis. Chateau Louis is part of the estate previously known as Rol de Frombauge, and Stephane Derenoncourt is the force behind the wine. Made from remarkably low yields of 16 hectoliters per hectare, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2006 exhibits sweet aromas of black currants, cherries, spice box, Christmas fruitcake, and roasted herbs. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, pure, and elegant, with noticeable tannin in the finish, this cuvee will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age, and should keep for 15 years.
