This is a savory wine with dark and exotic spice. The Tedeschi 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Marne 180 (with 35% Corvina, 35% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella and 10% complementary grapes) definitely takes us to the darker and brawny side of the Amarone spectrum. The vintage is carefully balanced and intense, however, so the wine never feels too heavy. Much of the power is reserved for the mouthfeel, which is dense and richly textured. This full-throttle Amarone could pair with charred meats. An ample 140,000 bottles were made.
