The 2005 Grenache “Fifth Wave” comes from a vineyard planted in 1953 with small yields of 1.0 to 1.5 tons per acre. The wine was aged for 24 months in new and used French oak. Dark ruby/crimson in color, it delivers an aromatic array of earth, garrigue, lavender, sage, and black cherry. Full-bodied, velvety-textured, and layered, this ripe, sweet Grenache has outstanding depth and length. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.
