The 1990 Beaune-Les Greves offers up a spicy, oaky, chocolate, and cherry-scented, seductive nose. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied, with elegant, tasty, soft fruit flavors, and a fleshy finish. More drinkable at present than some of the other premiers crus, it is still capable of lasting 10-12 years. Francoise Choppin bottled her 1990s relatively early, in November, 1991, and I have had the opportunity to taste through them twice. While they were impressive immediately after bottling, they have recently closed up. It should be noted that the Albert Morot red burgundies are among the most reasonably priced.
