Whereas Domaine Albert Morot's vineyards tend to average between 40-50 years of age, the Beaune Greves has only 10-year-old vines. The 1999 is ruby-colored and offers fresh herb and black cherry aromas. This is a tannic, blackberry-dominated wine with an extremely firm yet appealing personality. From barrel, this wine's fruit appeared to have the upper hand vis-a-vis its hard tannin, but it was precariously close, and bottling could easily reverse that. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
