The 2001 Taurasi is made in a fairly accessible style. Gorgeous aromas of ash, smoke and graphite lead to a core of ripe dark fruit, licorice and sweet toasted oak as this attractive wine opens in the glass. The presence of early tertiary notes suggests it will be approachable relatively early for a Taurasi. Terredora’s 2001 Taurasi spent a year and a half in small French oak barrels followed by another year in cask. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2013.
Terredora is a relatively young property founded in 1994 by Walter Mastroberardino and his family. The estate farms over 150 hectares of vineyards in Campania, making it one of the larger. producers in the region. The top wines are rich, flavorful and loaded with character.
