A winner, the dense ruby/purple-colored 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Girard "Non Filtre" is made in a hedonistic, exotic, full-bodied style with notes of jammy blackberries and cherries intermixed with kirsch liqueur, spice box, and licorice. In the mouth, it is layered, succulent, ripe, and best consumed during its first 12-15 years of life. It is a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre.
Raymond Usseglio is at the top of his game and consumers should be pursuing his splendid wines.
