The 2010 Muruve Crianza comes from single vineyards in Pago del Llano Morales, Escampada and Bardales from vines aged over 40 years. It is matured in mainly French oak, of which 30% is new. It offers a ravishing, showy bouquet of perfumed dark cherries, creme de cassis and iodine that maintains impressive delineation and freshness. The palate is well-balanced and smooth as silk. The acidity is well-judged, the oak more present than I would have expected, the American component lending it a mocha and dark chocolate veneer towards the finish. It slips down the throat almost with too much ease! Drink now-2018.
