A real triumph for Cartlidge and Browne, and a wine worth buying by the case, is the 1995 Chardonnay. This is the best value in American Chardonnay I have tasted in several years. The wine delivers a knock-out, Meursault-like, smoky, hazelnut, buttery, ripe, tropical fruit-scented nose. Medium-bodied, with surprising intensity, as well as a creamy, honeyed texture, nice purity, and a heady, lush finish, this is a hedonistic, delicious Chardonnay to drink over the next 8-12 months. Frankly, most $25 Chardonnays do not offer this much flavor and character. Don't let this one pass you by!Tel. - Associated Wine Distributors, (707) 963-8048
