The 2009 Sauvignon Blanc Rutherford Reserve reveals more honeyed melon, gravel and flint notes as well as additional body and depth. Composed of 85% Sauvignon, 11% Semillon and 4% Muscat (surprise, surprise), it reveals a fatter, more exotic character than the regular cuvee. If you want a pure Sauvignon, drink the regular bottling, but if you want more exoticism, personality and a walk on the wild side, check out the Rutherford Reserve. It should drink well for 1-3 years. This winery is forever associated with their Sauvignon Blanc program, which is one of the most successful in California. They produce two cuvees and the less expensive regular Sauvignon Blanc should be on the buying list of every shrewd consumer.Tel. (800) 929-2217; Fax (707) 963-5639
