The 2005 Camartina (70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese) reveals floral aromatics along with red fruits, tar, licorice, smoke and toasted oak. It possesses outstanding balance, although not quite the stuffing of the finest vintages, which makes the wine’s structural components stand out more than they ideally might. This slender Camartina is likely to offer its best drinking relatively early. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.
Querciabella occupies a stupendous position in the hills of Greve. With one notable exception, this is another set of strong releases from an estate that in recent years has made some of the most beautiful wines in its history.
