Here in its second edition, a release of 4,000 bottles, the Valle dell'Acate 2014 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Iri da Iri is an electric wine with lots of personality. Sourced from a single vineyard in the reddish soils of Altopiano Biddine Soprano, the blend is 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato, and you get a good dose of aromas that you can immediately associate with both varietals. The Nero d'Avola delivers black cherry and warmer tones of earth and leather. The Frappato, on the other hand, is bright and punchy with blue flowers and even a hint of sun-ripened apricot. The two grapes nicely complement each other in perfect Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico fashion with a smooth, lean-bodied finish.
