The fruit-driven red 2015 Viuda Negra Nunca Jamás is pure Tempranillo from the higher altitude parts of the old vineyards fermented in 225-liter French oak barriques with four to five punching downs of the cap each day, and a short aging in oak until the end of malolactic. It felt very ripe, with notes of prunes and something earthy, organic even, with hints of cereals and a lactic touch. The palate showed abundant, slightly dusty tannins and some nicely integrated oak. 12,000 bottles produced.
