The 2008 Barolo Riserva stands alone in a crowd thanks to the brightness of its bouquet. Unlike the other wines presented by Marchesi di Barolo this year, this expression shows unique aromas of candied fruit and cherry cola that lift with intensity from the glass. It's not sweet tasting in the mouth, but the aromas make you think it is. The palate does deliver soft richness and pretty extraction. You can just begin to make out aged aromas of cured meat, mahogany and crushed granite.
