The 2004 L’Avi Arrufi is composed of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Merlot, Tempranillo, and Syrah, in this case aged for 14 months in French, American, and Hungarian oak before being bottled unfiltered. Purple colored, on the nose this wine is more marked by the oak treatment. There is plenty of pain grille but also an assortment of fruit aromas including black cherry, blueberry, and blackberry. This is followed by a full-bodied, structured wine with complex flavors and enough balance to evolve for 4-6 years. The wine should drink well through 2020.
