Restraint as well as tannin and wood are noticeable in the 2002 San Roman, which spent more time in oak than the Prima. While a fine effort for the vintage, it did not receive the same top-notch raw materials as the 2003. Nevertheless, it is civilized, elegant, and substantial, just less exotic. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
