The 2007 Classic Caranyana, sourced from pure Carinena vines between 60 and 105 years old and aged for 18 months in new French oak, is only produced in selected years. The nose is very well-defined with crisp red fruits, raspberry, blood orange, minerals and just a hint of vanilla emanating from the oak. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins, notes of crisp blackberry, briary and a touch of black truffle that leads to a grippy, harmonious finish that deserves a decade to see what it can do. Excellent. Drink 2017-2027.
Cims de Porrera is the name of the co-operative located in the namesake village that is managed by the Perez family (see Mas Martinet). The current winemaker is Adria Perez, son of Jose-Luis. They manage around 26 parcels of vine located on steep slopes between 400 and 700 meters altitude.
