The 2021 Grey Label Shiraz hails from McLaren Vale and, as is usual for this wine, it is plush, cushioned, enveloping, round and dense. Loads of velvety mulberry/raspberry fruit seems to pile on top of each other like a mound of cushions, and the tannins that hold it all together feel padded and chewy. This is mouthfilling (in case that isn't already patently obvious), and there's not a hard edge in sight. It's like a padded room. This is the "comfort wine" that people get all misty eyed about on a Friday night in the local battleship, and it is done well here. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
