The purple-colored 2005 Aliara is composed of 45% Carignan, 22% Malbec, 22% Syrah, and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon. The attractive perfume includes notes of mineral, scorched earth, blueberry, and blackberry. Sleek on the palate, the wine offers layers of sweet fruit, savory black cherry and blueberry flavors, several years of aging potential, and good length. Stylistically it is reminiscent of a mid-level Priorat from Spain. Odjfell produces a value-priced line called Armador but these failed to merit recommendations. However, the pricier Orzada lineup was at another level. Odfjell’s two blended wines are both outstanding.Importer: Select Fine Wines, Manhasset, NY
