I assume the vineyards of Calcareous (which means “l(fā)imestone”) are planted on the limestone hillsides of Paso Robles. The only wine I could recommend from this portfolio is the 2004 Tre Violet, a well-made blend of 36% Grenache, 33% Syrah, and 31% Mourvedre that tastes like a low level French Cotes du Rhone. It exhibits decent concentration along with peppery, herbal, cherry, and licorice notes in it spicy personality. It is best consumed over the next 1-2 years. Other wines tasted: 2004 Syrah, 2004 Roussanne, 2005 Viognier.Tel. (805) 239-0289; Fax (805) 239-0916
