The 2012 Le Crock, a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, came in at 13.5% natural alcohol. However, it did not hit the sweet spot on my palate, and seemed rather tough, angular and narrowly constructed with little charm as well as hard, under-ripe tannins. Hopefully, it will improve during its upbringing. This stunningly beautiful chateau looks like Hollywood’s version of Sleeping Beauty’s castle. It is owned by the Cuvelier family, who also own Leoville Poyferre, and Michel Rolland is the consultant.
