The 1999 Chardonnay Carneros (14.3% alcohol) reveals a smoky, complex, leesy-scented bouquet with notes of citrus, roasted hazelnuts, and candied apricots. Flavors of brioche (the French eggy-buttery pastry), mango, minerals, and clove emerge in the mouth. This full-bodied wine seems fruit-driven, but the longer it sits in the glass, the more nuances become apparent. It is a dazzling Chardonnay to consume over the next 2-3 years. This Chardonnay was aged completely in French oak (one-third was new), enjoyed full malolactic fermentation, and was bottled without filtration.Tel. (707) 963-8840; Fax (707) 963-8894
