The lightest of the Hillside Select Cabernets, the 1988 possesses an impressively saturated dark ruby/purple color, and an undeveloped, young, grapy nose of light intensity (primarily cassis, vanillin, and spice). The wine is less concentrated than most Hillside Select offerings, with noticeable tannin in the moderately long finish. It can be drunk now or aged for another 12-15 years.
