The 2009 Cartoixa is a blend of 65% Garnacha, 30% Carinena and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from specially selected 50+ year old vines, raised for 18 months in 80% new oak. It has a lifted bouquet of exotic red fruits, marmalade, blood orange and rose petals that is well-defined and sensual. The palate is full-bodied with a sweet, tangy entry, a fine line of acidity and a savory tincture that becomes more dominant towards the meaty, spicy finish, which lingers nicely in the mouth.
