The 2009 Corton Clos du Roi is very shut down today. It boasts tons of structure and sheer power. The fruit emerges from behind a wall of tannin just enough to get a sense of what the wine’s ultimate potential might be. This is a big, ripe wine with a lot of vintage character in its fruit, even if the formidable tannin keeps the wine from being fully expressive. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.
