The hot 2000 vintage was particularly valuable here, as the 2000 Chianti Classico Riserva (which I continue to prefer to the single-vineyard Il Picchio Riserva) immediately demonstrates in its warm aromas of roasted fruit, its solid structure, and its ripe and spicy flavors. Drink: 2006-2014. Castello di Querceto is one of the higher estates in Chianti Classico, and the east-southeastern exposures of most of the vineyards do not always give maximum heat to the grapes. It is a tribute to the professionalism and hard work of owner Alessandro Francois, therefore, that the wines regularly show well.Importer: Unknown
