A blend of 67% Sauvignon Blanc and 33% Semillon, vinified separately with 15% being barrel fermented in new French oak barrels for six weeks before being combined with the stainless steel portion, the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon has moderate to intense aromas of grapefruit, fresh peaches, lemon tart and lanolin with just a hint of cedar. Light to medium bodied, crisp and dry, it has great concentration and balance with plenty of citrusy flavor and a long zesty finish. Drink it now to 2014+.
Although Umamu Estate is a relatively new venture initiated in 2005, the vineyards are well established, dating back to 1978. These early efforts are very good and suggest a lot of potential.
