Fashioned from an unusual blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Merlot, the 2004 Mangan was aged 9 months in French oak. It exhibits a dark ruby/purple color as well as aromas of blue and black fruits, graphite, and steel, excellent texture, good chewiness and elegance, and gentle acidity. The tannins are surprisingly soft, displaying none of the ferociousness Petit Verdot can provide. Consume it over the next 5-8 years.
