From a very warm vintage, the 2011 Sommerhalde Sp?tburgunder GG opens with an intense, aromatic and slightly smoky bouquet of ripe and sweet cherries and saline-tinted notes of new oak (100%). Silky, fresh and refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied, dense, very intense and powerful, quite tannic, concentrated and rather robust Pinot that is still young and should benefit from bottle age. The aftertaste reveals remarkable minerality. This should be decanted for an hour or so. However, even then it will refine yet not reach the finesse and delicacy of the 2012. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in October 2023.
