Fermented with 10% to 15% whole clusters the 2018 Sommerhalde Sp?tburgunder GG opens with a generous, intense and aromatic bouquet. Macerated for 16-18 days, including carbonic maceration, this is a juicy, fruity and aromatic Pinot with intense cherry aromas, very fine tannins and, in general, remarkable finesse. This combined with the intensity and ripeness of the fruit and the body of the vintage make the 2018 a particular Pinot in Julian's career as a winemaker. The berries were bigger than 2019 and 2020 and had more juice. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in October 2023.
