The 2005 Terlaner Nova Domus is 60% Pinot Blanc, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc that spent 12 months in oak, equal parts cask and smaller French oak barrels. The Sauvignon aromatics dominate the bouquet, but on the palate the Pinot Blanc fruit and texture come through beautifully. As outstanding as Terlano’s blends can be, I tend to gravitate towards the mono-varietal wines, which offer a higher degree of expression. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2014. Cantina di Terlano is a reference-point producer for fine wines in Alto Adige. This cooperative’s entry-level bottlings are reviewed in Issue 178. The top selections are regularly among the finest wines in Italy.Importer: Banville & Jones Wine Merchants, New York, NY; tel. (204) 294-4899
