Deep garnet-brick in color, the 1996 Shiraz The Armagh is a bit funky with a gamey and animal character over notes of black earth, Indian spices, Marmite, menthol and cola. Medium to full-bodied, it is solidly built with a taut structure and an earthier, more savory style.

Dark and ripe, with a polished texture and meaty flavors to go with the black plum, licorice and black pepper at the core. A big, mouthfilling, soft-textured wine, but there's a kick of acidity and a light grip of tannins to give this some serious intent on the long finish.
