The 1999 Barbaresco Camp Gros, the product of a vintage in which the vineyards were battered by hail, shows in its unusual power the tiny yields which were harvested. Medium garnet, with expansive and penetrating aromas of red currants, eucalyptus, tar, and wild fennel, it is the fullest of the three, the densest and most enveloping in texture, the most solid and yet the sweetest and most sensual. It is more approachable than Gaiun, but may well last longer, and should provided excellent drinking from 2005 to 2018.
