The 2005 La Lloptera is 100% Pinot Noir aged for 7 months in 50% new French oak. Dark ruby-colored, it displays an alluring bouquet of cedar, tobacco, Asian spices, black cherry, and black raspberry. Silky-textured, incipiently complex, and with serious varietal character, it has excellent volume, intense flavors, plenty of underlying structure, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. It merits 4-6 years of cellaring and will offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2025.
Celler Escoda-Sanahuja’s 15 acre estate, founded in 2003, is organically farmed using biodynamic principles. In the winery no sulfur is used unless absolutely necessary and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
