The 1997 Barbaresco Masseria is a fabulous example from this appellation. A saturated dark plum/garnet color is followed by a broad, luxurious, sweet nose of cedar, plums, cherries, leather, herbs, earth, and spice. Deep, expansive, and full-bodied, with no hard edges, this mouth-coating, well-balanced effort will drink well now and over the next fifteen years.
